Office Schedule
The office opens Monday, Wednesday & Friday by appointment only. Appointments are available before and during school those days and range from 20 minutes for a typical medication management visit to 60 minutes for an initial consultation.
On Monday and Friday afternoons Dr Brooks works as the admissions psychiatrist for Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, so appointments are available in the morning between 7 am and 11 am.
On Wednesday, appointments are available between 7 am and 4 pm.
In general, before and after school appointments need to be booked in advance as they are in highest demand. Also, after school appointments cannot be booked more than four weeks in advance. Appointments are not normally available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The office reserves some appointment times for urgent issues only. Also, Dr Brooks is available by phone for less urgent matters which cannot wait until your next appointment.
As Dr Brooks has children in Austin ISD schools, the office is typically closed on those school holidays. During the first part of 2010, the office will be closed to appointments March 15-19, April 2, May 31, and June 2.
Please arrive fifteen (15) minutes early for appointments. If not checked in at the time the appointment is due to start, the office reserves the right to rearrange the schedule for patients who have arrived early.
The doctor does not guarantee to see patients who arrive late by five (5) minutes or more. Such late arrivals also count as a missed appointment. As a reminder, if you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call (512) 637-2595 at least the business day before. An appointment cancelled late is also missed. The office charges $100 for missed appointments.
The clinic does not maintain a full time staff while the doctor works at other locations, so the office is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. The doctor's patient care coordinator reviews communications on site Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays, but not at a fixed time.
Controlled substance (triplicate) prescriptions are not available for direct pickup outside of an appointment. Instead, the office will mail these prescriptions to the home address we have on file. Please allow time both for us to process refill requests and for the mail, typically 2-3 business days.
